COCADISCO starring DMX KREW + LUKE EARGOGGLE
This Saturday, January 22
9pm to 3am
The Alibi, 91 Kingsland High Street, London E8 2PB
COCADISCO kisses 2011 on both cheeks this Saturday night with this
back-to-basics electro-disco knees-up starring the mighty DMX KREW and
his Swedish brother from another mother LUKE EARGOGGLE.
We'd be here all night if we listed the things we like about DMX Krew,
so visit www.dmxkrew.com for the facts. Needless to say, we're
thrilled to have Ed back at Cocadisco – he's not played since August
2003, when he drove people wild down at The Social. He's also back
with a new label, Fresh Up.
Words can't express the affection we have for Luke Eargoggle, the
Gothenburg electro Colossus – without him, this party wouldn't be
happening. If you've seen him play anywhere over the years or heard
any of his records, then you've been blessed. Try not to miss him.
Even better, we're back at THE ALIBI in Dalston, scene of one of the
greatest Cocadiscos ever last March, and as ever the entrance is FREE.
Strap on those dancing shoes.

Coldcut & Hexstatic - Timber 1998 VIA: tottenhamtottie.blogspot.com
Ninja Tune ZEN CDS65A

Filename: Coldcut & Hexstatic.rar Filesize: 285.48 MB
My apologies the soulies but I have a diversion today. Sorry, This Just Isn't Music!
No, this is Coldcut (again) and this time they have teamed up with Hexstatic and their on a mission. Timber comes from the Let Us Play album and it has a purpose. The aim of the 'song' is to raise awareness to the disappearing rainforests around the globe. It's a good cause and its a good bit of music but you need to be open minded. Click on the graphics below and read more about the campaign and the project. It is interesting, honest!
Timber has been built from sound samples taken from a documentary about the deforestation of the rainforests around the world. Included in the rar are the Video Remixes also which explains why it's 285 MB. This is an incredible piece of experimental music harking way back to the Steinski & Mass Media project. A collection of rhythms and melodies built from media soundbytes and layered to form a song. The original Chopped Down Radio Edit is perfect and no amount of tinkering can improve it. It is what it is! The remixes are mostly Drum & Bass ventures Quant's Shaggy Dog Story being my fav. They are all well put together but unnecessary. Clifford Gilberto's Jazz trips are way out there. If your head can get around it, this is a great experience.

Oliver Fay and Piers Martin behind the decks at Black Circle on 21st August, and below Rasha Kahil in the crowds both images by Todd Hart.
Thank you everyone who came down; Chris and Kirti from Frank (Just Frank) it was an absolute pleasure to meet you both and have you play. Oliver for a sweat inducing set as promised, perfected needle drops from Piers Martin and Marta Poz Travelsex and an absolute treat from Todd Hart. Celia and Matthew you were also amazing!

BLACK CIRCLE 21st August
Black Circle is proud to bring you;
Live music sensation Frank (Just Frank) the French coldwave duo whom released their debut album 'The Brutal Wave' on Wierd Records last month.
Thankfully, the band’s sound is harder to pin down than hyped “Parisian early ’80s-inflected synth pop” leading us down the road of Cure, D.A.F and Absolute Body Control as reference, accomplishing the french/belgian cold wave sound and keeping what's good from the early 80's . One half the band Chris Vocal's /Bass was born in New Jersey and grew up with the other half Kirti Vocal's / Guitar - bonding over Rage Against The Machine in the french Rivera.

Our favorite newly-wed Todd Hart takes the decks after a long break from the disco circuit.
However Disco was never his "sole jam" he was - after all the one to introduce me to Kassettentäter which lead me onto my obsession with the Belgian Industrial Scene of the early late 70's 80's.
Excited to hear some rare gems from the Dalston Oxfam Shop Archives.
http://dalstonoxfamshop.blogspot.com/
We also have Cocadisco gem Piers Martin playing! Yay!
As well as uplifting disco beats we are expecting some dusty record covers in the selection - delving darker into the mind of disco mania and dredging up some of the dark past to throw into the mix.
Oliver Fay is returning to the Black Circle with another unabashed set designed for sweat!
"Oliver loves to get his fingers filthy with wax ranging from Flexipop, Avant Electronica with an assortment of Wave and Italo nasty's all aiming towards the enhancement of your pleasure!"
http://glossolalia-ailalossolg.blogspot.com/
Don't worry - his twisted Resonance dwelling Glossolalia series will not be entering the Black Circle domain.
To insure smooth transition your flight attendant Marta Poznanski aka DJ Travelsex with insure a safe flight into the depths of musical knowledge (which is pretty good for a pretty girl), lets see what favorites she'll pull out of her nifty flight-safe vinyl box this time?
